Children's Holiday Adventures

Here are some stories written by children about what they have done over the school holidays.

My Birthday
On Thursday it was my birthday and I got twenty four dollars.  I bought some nail polish, lip gloss and lollies.  My uncle text me and said "Happy birthday my girl.  I hope you have a good day".  Hugs  and kisses from uncle.  I also got to get a lotto ticket but my Dad had to buy it.  I also go to get some felts too.  When we got home Dad lit the fire and I got to feed my sister's baby.

The Snow Mountain
On Tuesday we went to the snow mountain and it was freezing.  Mum and Dad made Kiwara, Ngakita and Reon a hot coco.  But I had a snow cone and a hot coco.  It was delicious.  Judy my Mum looked after the boys.  Gavin my Dad just about went from the top of the hill to the end.  We went on our boggie boards.  Kiwara got covered in snow.  It was so funny I nearly fell off the hill.

At The Snow
On Saturday I went to the snow.  When we got there we got dresses then we climbed up the hill then slid down the hill.  Mum took photos of us. Then we had a snow ball fight and Piper threw a snowball at Mum and she took a photo of the snowball.  I layed  on the ground and made snow angels.  Then we went and dropped Mum, Piper and Amber off at the toilets and the they walked down the hill.  After that we had something to eat and the we got changed and went to the Happy Snapper for dinner.

The Rugby
This Saturday I'm going to watch the rugby.  I hope the All Blacks win.  When it is finished me and Jake are going to get our rugby things signed.  It might be awesome there.  After that we might play some rugby if we ask Gerald or Grandma.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

We have all been learning how best we can reduce, reuse and recycle our unwanted items, rubbish and broken toys, appliances...

We decided that we wanted to make either a 'Money Box' or a 'Desk Top Tidy'. We drew a design and then began to collect articles that we thought would be suitable to use. All materials had to be recyclable.

Here are some of our creations.

Autumn Art

Room 10 have been painting pictures of the Smoke Bush tree that is at the front of the school. Instead of using acrylic paint we used water colours. These are fun to use and produce great results as you can see.

Welcome to Room 10 Blog for Term Two.

I trust you have all had a great break over the holidays.  It's hard to believe that we are in our 3rd week and have almost finished our first units 'Keeping Ourselves Safe' and Autumn.

Last week we had a special visitor to our school.  'Ruben the Road Safety Bear' surprised us early on Thursday morning sharing his road safety message.  The children had a lot of fun and all classes received a special bag with a few treats inside.  'Stop, Look, Listen and Link' was the main message and when you are sitting in your car, make sure you hear your seat belt click.

We are learning about Bees

We have been learning about bees and to help us with this we had a visit from Mrs Stichbury who is a Beekeeper.  We had some questions that we wanted to ask her.

How many bee hives do you have?
What are hives made out of?
How many Queen Bees are in a hive?
How do Bees back to their hive?
How far do they Fly?
How much honey can one Bee make?
Is there a 'King' Bee?
How many bees are in one hive?
These were just a few of the questions that we asked.

The hive is built in stages.

We learnt that another name for a Beekeeper is an 'Aparist'.

Room 10 Cloud Stories.

Today we went outside to look at the clouds in the sky and we saw a marshmallow and one cloud that looked like a dragon.  Some looked like turtles and we also saw a dog in the sky.  I felt like I wanted to lay down on it.
